Shildon’s 1 millionth visitor(s)

We celebrated a special milestone at Locomotion.

Yesterday was a special day for Locomotion the National Railway Museum at Shildon: the sister museum to the National Railway Museum at York racked up 1,000,000 visitors – 10 years ahead of schedule.

National Railway Museum Director  and Durham County Council’s Rosemary Laxton were there to welcome these landmark visitors, the Lancaster family from Greenside: April and Stephen Lancaster and their sons, 2½-year-old Ben and 10-month-old Sam.

Check out the pictures below: the Lancasters were treated to a steam ride behind Furness Railway No.20 and a lunch at the museum café.

Here’s to the next million!
